Summary
Rockstar Games revealed the first trailer today for Grand Theft Auto V. The GTA series is one of the most successful game franchises in the history of video gaming. GTA has become a part of pop culture around the world and been referenced in movies, television and music on numerous occasions.
Features
- It appears you will be playing as an older Caucasian male who was about to retire from a life of crime before being pulled back into that lifestyle by an unnamed event.
- You appear to be a father, or at the very least want to become one.
- By looking at the vehicles, buildings and clothing, the game seems to be set in the present day or close to it.
- San Andreas was one of the biggest gaming worlds Rockstar had ever made and it looks to be just as vast in GTAV. We have seen mountains, countryside, beaches, suburbs and a large city. It doesn’t look like you will be stuck in a virtual Los Angeles, but will get to explore other regions of a virtual California.
- You will be robbing a bank as part of a crew dressed as bug exterminators for a company called Bugstars.
- AK 47 type machineguns are in the game and the ones you use for the robbery mission appear to have silencers on them.
- Rockstar’s signature humor returns in GTA V. There is a postal truck with the slogan “We aim not to lose it” and a store named “Liquor Ace”.
- Prostitutes make an appearance and it appears you can still interact with them.
- The seedier side of Los Angeles will be represented as well. There are tent cities and shanty towns of homeless people under interstates, prostitutes, graffiti and even migrant workers in the fields.
- Vehicles include sedans, sports cars, vans, jeeps, pickup trucks, boats, jet skis, airplanes, helicopters and motorcycles. It is not clear if all are drivable by the player.
- One type of convertible sports car appears to have a retractable roof.
